NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 3, 2000 SEE DOGS FLY THIS WEEKEND IN CARY CARY, NC – With leaves
beginning to fall, it’s once again time for dogs to fly at the annual The event, which is being managed nationally by Atlanta-based Skyhoundz, is one of several local and regional championships of the 2000 Friskies ALPO Canine Frisbee disc Championships. Local Championships consist of two 60-second rounds of Distance/Accuracy. Local hosts also may hold, at their discretion, a separate competition consisting of one round of Distance/Accuracy and one 90-second round of Freestyle. Local Championships are administered and judged by locally appointed staff/volunteers utilizing Skyhoundz rules and format. Points are awarded based on distance/location of the throw and that the dog’s success at grabbing the Frisbee. All participants will receive a competition Frisbee and Certificate of Participation. The winners and 2nd place team will receive a sports bag and T-shirt. "This particular event will not serve as a qualifier for the World Championships but should be a great practice session for those interested in future competition," said Tony Clark, Operations Supervisor for Cary’s Bond Park. Cary hosted a World qualifier this past June. North Carolina hosted seven events this year, making it fifth in the nation in the number of such competitions, behind California with 10, Florida with nine, and Maryland and Washington tied with eight.
