NEWS RELEASE
WITH TRIANGLE POWDER SKIPPING CARY FOR NOW, HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY MOVES INDOORS WHILE TOWN SNOW SQUAD CONTINUES STANDBY
CARY, NC – If the Triangle is the one place in the state that's so far been spared most of the forecasted snow, then Cary is the one place in the Triangle that's been spared ANY of the forecasted snow!
For those disappointed by the lack of Mother Nature's Holiday Cheer, the good news is that tonight's annual Holiday Concert and Tree Lighting is a go, moved inside the Cary Community Center gym downtown of the Town Hall Campus at 404 North Academy Street as a precaution.
"Right now, all indications are that we can have a safe and joyful holiday celebration tonight," said Town of Cary Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Resources Director Mary Barry. "We have a wonderful evening planned, and we hope everyone in the community will come out to enjoy the festivities."
For now, Town officials do plan to follow the tree lighting and concert with the annual Heritage Open House at Page Walker Arts & History Center, also on the Town Hall Campus on Ambassador Loop.
Town of Cary Public Works & Utilities staff and contract workers continue to standby at the Town's Snow Command headquarters, and Cary's Snow Info web section will be updated regularly with the latest news, weather, closings, and coping information. Visit FAQ/INDEX at www.townofcary.org.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY POSING AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO LIFE, HEALTH, OR PROPERTY.
The next update will be issued around 5:00 PM unless changing conditions warrant sooner action.
