ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTION: CARY, NC – Register now for a Compost Education Workshop to be held at the Bond Park Compost Education Center from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4. This workshop is designed to teach Cary citizens how simple it is to reduce yard waste and instead produce their own rich soil amendment to nourish their plants and shrubs. Participants will be given an overview of backyard composting and observe several different composting techniques including grasscycling and vermicomposting. "Most people do want to protect the environment but are not sure what they can do," said Karen Hales, Town of Cary Recycling and Solid Waste Specialist. "By attending this workshop, Cary citizens have the opportunity to learn some ways in which they can personally make a positive difference." Cary Recycles, an education program of Cary’s Solid Waste Management Division, provides integrated solid waste services to Town of Cary citizens and employees identifying source reduction, reuse, recycling and composting as preferred methods of management. The workshop on Saturday is the first of six workshops to be offered through Cary Recycles this fiscal year. The next will be in held in March 2001. Call 469-4090 for more information or to register.
