NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 2, 2000 SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH BLUEGRASS CARY, NC – If you like Bluegrass music, then you need to come to the Town of Cary’s 6th annual "Picking in the Park" Bluegrass Concert to be held this Sunday October 8th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Cary’s Bond Park Sertoma Amphitheater. Feel free to bring food and drinks to enjoy during the afternoon, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Pets on a 6’ leash are also welcome. Admission is free. In case of rain, the concert will move to the park’s Kiwanis Shelter "Bond Park’s Sertoma Apt heater provide a Great setting for traditional folk music," says Park Operations Supervisor Tony Clark to the question, "why bluegrass?" According to Clark, past musicians say that the Amphitheater has great acoustics which enhance their performance. SCHEDULE OF PERFORMERS All of the bands are local to the Triangle and play "traditional bluegrass" with similar instruments in the group including banjo and fiddle Sunday’s event is organized by "Banjo in the Hollow", a private, non-profit, corporation dedicated to preserving and promoting bluegrass and old-time music. Located in the Triangle area of North Carolina, Banjo in the Hollow offers the opportunity for members to participate and play bluegrass, old-time and acoustic string music.
