REWARD OFFERED IN

LOCHMERE BURGLARIES

CARY -- A reward of up to $2500 is being offered for help in solving a string of related burglaries in the Lochmere area of Cary. Cary Crimestoppers, in cooperation with the Town of Cary, will pay for information leading to the identification and apprehension of those individuals responsible for burglary of several homes.

"These are very serious crimes," said Lt. Steve Lee of the Cary Police Department. "If citizens hear or see someone in or around their house during the night, they need to call 911 immediately. They should never approach the intruders," he added.

Since August, Cary Police has been investigating 10 burglaries in the area, six of which occurred at night while the homeowners were sleeping. The subjects appear to have gained entry through the basement or garage windows. Once there, the burglars used credit cards or other plastic items to pry open door locks. In some cases, the doors leading from the garage to the house were unlocked.

The burglaries occurred on Lochview, Loch Stone, Loch Haven, Loch Point, and Whisperwood. Cary officials are working with the Wake County Sheriff’s Department on possible related cases in their jurisdiction.

Anyone with information may contact Crimestoppers at 460-INFO (460-4636) or Lt. Steve Lee, Criminal Investigations, at 469-4017. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
