CARY TO DEDICATE NEW GREENWAY
CARY, NC -- Portions of Carys new White Oak Creek Greenway will be dedicated by Town officials at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday evening, August 21st. This brings to ten the total number of greenways in Cary, with the public having access to 9.9 miles of outdoor trails.
"Were very proud of this project," said Mary Barry, Parks/Recreation/Cultural Resources director for Cary. "Greenways are an integral part of the recreational opportunities the Town offers to its citizens, and the White Oak Creek Greenway is a critical component of our overall master plan."
The paved, 10-wide trail extends from Parkscene Drive to Jenks-Carpenter Road. Thursdays dedication marks the end of the first of two phases for the project which, when completed in 1998, will link the Davis Drive School Campus with future park sites on Jenks-Carpenter Road and Davis Drive.
Dedication ceremonies will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the greenway trailhead located on Parkscene Drive in Westpark development off NC HWY. 55. Remarks from Town officials will be followed by refreshments and a walk on the new, one-half mile trail.
"We hope everyone in the area will come out to see this wonderful addition to our greenway system," Barry added.
In case of rain, the dedication will be held on Tuesday, August 26th at 6:00 p.m.
