CARY CABLE TV COMMISSION TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING
CARY -- The Town of Carys Cable TV Advisory Commission will hold a public hearing to assess the performance of Time Warner Cable as a cable operator in Cary, NC. The public hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 22nd in the lower-level conference room of Town Hall Building B.
"Were really hoping that citizens will come to the meeting and share their thoughts," said Assistant Town Manager Ben Shivar. "Its important for the Town to be able to determine if Time Warner has met the communitys needs."
During the hearing, citizens will be given the opportunity to comment on any aspect of Time Warners service to the community. Time Warner will also be invited to make a short presentation.
For those who cannot attend Mondays meeting, written comments will be accepted and should be forwarded to: Susan Moran, Town of Cary, PO Box 8005, Cary, NC 27512-8005.
"This hearing is just one of many tools the Town will use to evaluate Time Warner," said Cary Public Information Officer Susan Moran, who was hired by the Town this summer to handle cable as part of her duties. "Franchise renewal is actually a multi-year process governed in large part by the regulations of the Federal Communications Commission," she added.
Time Warner Cables existing franchise agreement with Cary was granted in 1988 and expires in November of 1998. The company serves about 23,856 households within Carys city limits.
