KING REMEMBERED

Keeping The Dream Alive….
From Montgomery to Memphis,
King left a new South behind him.
Rarely has one individual served as the catalyst
for so many significant and permanent
social changes. As our nation and
the community of Cary commences
the celebration of a holiday in his
honor, it is more important than ever
that we understand the dream of
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

This year the MLK, Jr. Task Force, The Town of Cary and other community participants have collaborated to plan a weekend of events and activities. These activities are designed to educate, inspire, and challenge us all to create a welcoming, inclusive community that operates in an atmosphere of cooperation, respect and understanding.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Task Force
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Task Force of Cary, Inc. is a charitable organization whose purpose is to continue the tradition of an annual observance celebrating the life, work and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and:
> To dismantle racism.
> To promote the beloved community.

In 1998, the MLK, Jr. Task Force requested consideration, endorsement and sanction of an annual MLK, Jr. Dreamfest celebration to be held in Cary beginning January 1999. With Town Council approval, a partnership with the Town of Cary was formed.

Town of Cary
The Town of Cary is proud to support this event through the efforts of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources staff and through the use of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.
