Purpose: To establish an alternate day watering schedule in compliance with Chapter 19 Town of Cary Code of Ordinances Sec. 19-36 b es.seq.
Policy:
A six day outdoor irrigation week is hereby established for the Town of Cary. Irrigation of the landscape shall not be done or permitted by any person on any Monday of any week.
No person shall use town potable water for irrigation of the landscape except on alternate days in accordance with Sec. 19-44, as follows:
Irrigation of the landscape shall only be allowed, for all persons and classes of customers with property street address numbers ending with an even number, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. For example, 316 Main Street would water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Irrigation of the landscape shall only be allowed for persons and all classes of customers with street addresses ending in an odd number, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of any week. For example, 315 Main Street would water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The property street address shall be determined by the mailing address for that location.
Irrigation of the landscape by persons without clearly defined street addresses shall be conducted in accordance with the Town-issued address for the meter used as the watering source at that particular location.
In the case where two or more meters with both odd and even addresses serve the same system or irrigated area, the even address should be used to comply with the alternate day watering schedule.
Penalties:
Penalties for watering on undesignated days will result in a special fine as outlined in Chapter 19 of the Town of Cary Code of Ordinances, section 19-36, Use of Town Water. Town staff may commence enforcement of Sec 19-44 by providing a "courtesy" notice for the first violation noted at any property address.
