USE OF TOWN-OWNED, LEASED OR RENTED VEHICLES OR EQUIPMENT

Policy Purpose

 

To adopt an official administrative regulation for the Town of Cary pertaining to the use of Town vehicles or equipment that can be driven. Town vehicles or equipment include that which is owned, leased, or rented by the Town.

 

Coverage

 

This policy, upon adoption by the Town Council, shall apply to the use of Town vehicles and equipment by all Town of Cary employees, and shall remain in effect until such time that it is altered, modified, or rescinded by the Town Council.

 

Policy

 

1. Town vehicles shall be operated in a safe, courteous manner. Town employees operating Town vehicles or equipment are subject to all state and local traffic laws.

 

2. Drug testing may be conducted on employees involved in accidents when such is warranted.

 

3. Town vehicles may be driven to and from home and work as approved by the town manager.

 

4. No employee of the Town of Cary shall use a Town vehicle/equipment for personal use whatsoever, as defined by the General Statutes and laws of the State of North Carolina.
