As required by the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
Amendments, the Town of Cary has released their Annual Drinking
Water Quality Report (in order to view this document,
you need to have Adobe Acrobate Reader installed on your
PC). This report details our water sources, the results
of our water testing, and other important information
about your drinking water.
Thanks
citizens and staff of the Town of Cary for your efforts
and support of the "Beat the Peak 1998"
Education Campaign! Your efforts resulted in being
awarded First Place in the 1999
Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 Award in the
Municipal Water Use Efficiency Program for the Most
Effective and Innovative Education Program. With
out your participation in this campaign, the significant
resulting water savings would not have been achieved, and
this award would have not come about. Thank you again,
and Congratulations!!!
The
Town of Cary's Water Conservation program was established
in 1996 to efficiently manage the Town's water resources
and to decrease reliance on outside water sources. This
program will produce several benefits, including delaying
future construction or expansion of water and wastewater
treatment facilities, reducing the amount of treated
wastewater discharged into the Neuse River, extending the
useful life of the Jordan Lake drinking water supply, and
conserving a limited natural resource. Secondary benefits
include reduced management costs and energy savings due
to less water being transported, treated and distributed.
The Town has utility rates that encourage wise use
of water. Utility rate tables are available online.
The Water Conservation program has the following goals:
- Reduce
the Town's average per capita water use by 20
percent by the year 2014.
- Support
the high quality of life in Cary by providing
safe, reliable water service, while reducing per
capita use of water.
- Conserve
a limited natural resource.
- Reduce
costs of infrastructure expansion.
