The Town has also partnered with Waste Management Inc to provide a simple solution for recycling empty inkjet cartridges, old cell phones and cell phone batteries. Citizens can mail in these items for recycling by picking up a postage-paid plastic bag from the Public Works and Utilities Department, 400 James Jackson Ave. in Cary. out where in Wake County you may take it. During part of the year, the county recycles
telephone books at additional locations in Cary and elsewhere. The Town holds year-round workshops and special events, including the Earth
Day celebration each April, to demonstrate the benefits of recycling. America Recycles Day is every
Nov. 15.
In 1991 and 1992, the
Town of Cary received national recognition for its Cary Recycles recycling
program from "Take Pride in America," which described record breaking
participation rates from Cary Citizens.
All customers who pay
a monthly solid waste fee are eligible to participate in the curbside
recycling program. If you need a recycling bin, call the Public Works
and Utilities Department at (919) 469-4090 or pick one up at the Finance
Department window in Building A of Town Hall. One bin is assigned
to each home. Additional bins are available for $8. Cords and hooks
can also be replaced for free by calling the Public Works and Utilities
Department at (919) 469-4090. | ||
