Overview
The Town collects Christmas trees at no charge through drop-off locations and curbside pickup. All non-vegetative matter must be removed from the trees, including lights, tinsel, ornaments and stands. Trees left at curbside should not cover fire hydrants or water meters.

Curbside Collection - Begins: January 6, 2009

  • First town-wide sweep - To ensure collection during first sweep, have trees at curb by 7 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2009 .
  • Regular yard waste collection - Trees not collected during first sweep will be accepted as regular yard waste beginning Jan. 12, 2009.

Drop-off Locations - Dec. 15, 2008 to Jan. 12, 2009

Look for drop-off signs and leave trees in designated areas of the following locations:

Cary Citizen Convenience Center
313 N. Dixon Ave.
(Off West Chatham Street in downtown Cary, west of Harrison Avenue and east of Old Apex Road)
Turn off West Chatham Street onto Dixon Avenue and follow to the end. Convenience center will be on the left.

Green Hope Elementary School
1303 Upchurch Meadow Road
(Off Louis Stephens Drive in western Cary)
From High House Road, westbound from central Cary: Turn right off High House Road onto Carpenter Upchurch Road. Turn right off Carpenter Upchurch Road onto Louis Stephens Drive. Drop-off site is on Louis Stephens Drive behind the school.

Oak Grove Elementary School
10401 Penny Road
(Off Penny Road, just east of Kildaire Farm Road)
From central Cary, southbound on Kildaire Farm Road, past the Lochmere development: Turn left off Kildaire Farm Road onto Penny Road. Oak Grove Elementary will be a few blocks on the right.
