What is a challenge course? A challenge course
is an outdoor learning facility designed to: The Bond Park challenge course, sometimes called a ropes course, allows participants to experience teamwork and personal growth through a graduated series of challenging activities in an atmosphere of trust, support and encouragement. Groups are guided through the course by trained facilitators. Challenge course staff are not there to define the experience for the participants, rather the participants decide how the day is important to them and their group or how the activities relate to life outside the course. Most people expect to spend the day at the challenge course climbing and swinging from ropes. While some activities include the use of ropes, the concept of a rope is a metaphor for the teambuilding experience that will take place during the day. Ropes are made of many strands; each strand independent of the other is not as strong as the entire rope with many strands bound together. The focus of the challenge course is for the individual participants to experience the strength of a combined effort by the group. Programs Groups can select from four programs: low course, high course, low course with one high element, and a full day program of low and high course elements. Anyone of average health and 10 years or older may participate. The experience can be tailored to those with special needs. See the Program Details page for additional details. Occasionally there are programs offered for individual registration. These classes are included in the Outdoor Recreation section of our Program Brochure. How to Register Programs are conducted year-round, with indoor version of low course activities available upon request. A group of eight or more individuals is required to schedule a program. Programs are scheduled a minimum of three weeks and no more than three months in advance of the program date. A deposit is required. All participants are required to complete registration forms and sign a liability waiver. Call Bond Park at (919) 469-4100 to schedule a program for your group. Contact Tracey Filomena
