Caniac Hockey Adventure

March Madness may be just around the corner,
but today we’ll be Caniacs! Cheer on the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions as the Hurricanes battle the Colorado Avalanche in a Sunday afternoon game. Witness the goal scoring and shot-saving action at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Fee includes transportation and ticket to the game (seats are located in the upper corner section). The Queen City via Train

See central North Carolina by train as we ride Amtrak from downtown Cary to uptown Charlotte. Get a taste of what Charlotte has to offer as we visit the Mint Museum of Craft + Design and the Levine Museum of the New South. The Mint Museum celebrates North Carolina’s rich craft tradition, reflected in the Museum’s collection of handicraft revival and in contemporary pieces. The Levine Museum of the New South is an interactive history museum that provides the nation with the most comprehensive interpretation of post-Civil War southern society. Between Museum visits, learn about
Uptown Charlotte through a historical trolley
ride. Registration fee includes transportation, admission, tours, snacks and a boxed dinner for

Art on the Hill

There is always something new to see at the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill. With over half the Museum’s gallery space dedicated to special and traveling exhibitions, the Ackland organizes more than a dozen exhibitions a year. Special exhibitions present a wide, stylistic range (the exhibit for January 2009 has not been announced). University scholars and guest curators enrich the Ackland exhibition schedule with cutting-edge research and innovative approaches to works of art. A walk through the Ackland can be an introduction to Peter Paul Rubens, Eugene Delacroix, and Andy Warhol – all in the same day. Enjoy lunch at Top of the Hill on Franklin Street. Acrylic Painting

Enhance your creativity by dabbling a little in the world of acrylic painting! Explore color mixing, paint application, composition and color placement. For the novice and experienced alike!
Students will learn to use acrylic paints to express light and color to create realistic, beautiful paintings. Paint for the enjoyment of the unique properties of the medium: bright, long-lasting color; fast-drying and ability to paint over; and flexibility of the medium.

Beginner Acrylic Painting

This class is perfect for the novice or experienced painter. Explore the use of color, texture and composition as you create enjoyable paintings. You supply the materials (list given at registration).

Basic Canoeing

Learn basic paddling and safety skills for tandem (two-person) canoeing in a short, introductory course. This course will cover personal preparation, equipment choices, and strokes essential to efficient paddling in a Bond Lake-type environment.
