The Parks, Greenways & Bikeways Master Plan, which was completed in July 1998, addresses implementation of a system to meet recreational and transportation needs to 2010. However, many projects outlined in the plan have been completed. Meanwhile, Cary has continued to grow and change.

The Town Council has authorized updating of the plan to guide development of parks, greenways and cultural arts facilities for the next decade. Cultural arts facilities are a new component. Bicycles are now addressed in the Comprehensive Transportation Plan.

Plan Approval

The Town Council approved the plan Dec. 11, 2003 with four recommendations from the Town Planning and Zoning Board.
