Volunteer with Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources
Volunteers help make it possible for Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources to provide programs and services to citizens of Cary and the surrounding communities. There are many ways you can serve:
- Serve as a Coach for the organized youth athletic leagues
- Serve on the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources' Advisory Board or other committees, such as Greenways, Athletics, Cultural Arts, and Teen Council
- Chaperone youth and teen trips
- Assist at various special events such as Lazy Daze and Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festivals, Cary Road Race, Hot Hoops Three-on-Three Streetball Tournament, Summerfest Concert Series, Bicycle Rodeo, Safe-n-Sane Halloween, etc.
- Assist with special projects such as trail workdays, Skate Park, Parks/Greenways clean up, etc.
- Assist with Senior Citizen events and special trips for Seniors
- Serve as a docent at Page-Walker Arts & History Center
- Assist with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre
While volunteers are appreciated 365 days of the year, we formally recognize volunteer on two occasions. One being the Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet held each winter. The public has the opportunity to nominate deserving volunteers with the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department for various awards. Nomination Forms are available in early December. View our Hall of Fame for past Volunteer Award Winners.
We also host an Annual Volunteer/Family Appreciation picnic at Bond Park. This is a time to do a special "Thank You!" to all our volunteers and their families. Festivities include free paddleboat rides, games prizes (donated by area businesses), live entertainment and tons of food.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. Please contact us at 919-469-4061 for more information on volunteering with Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources or fill out and return our volunteer application.
