Cary's high quality of life depends on a partnership between citizens, elected officials and Town employees. The Town provides the best possible customer service by helping all employees reach their potential.

Our goal is to be the best local government for our size in North Carolina and to be recognized throughout the Eastern United States for service to all segments of the community. At the Town of Cary, service is our only product.

Employee of the Year

2006 Employee Recognition Luncheon

The Employee of the Year program was established in 1989 to recognize employees who consistently perform well beyond what the job description requires. Nominees are consistently courteous and helpful to others. They strive to improve themselves and participate in the community.

2007 Employee of the Year

2007 Nominees

Previous Winners

Nominations are open to regular full-time and part-time employees. Temporary employees and appointed staff members are not eligible. The process usually starts in late October or early November. Most nominations are from fellow employees although occasionally they come from citizens. Nomination form

Each nomination is screened to ensure that the employee meets the criteria and that the department director approves. A confidential committee of citizens and Town employees chooses finalists. They are honored with plaques in December during the annual Employee Luncheon, at which the winner or winners are announced. Employees of the Year receive a plaque and a $1,000 savings bond.
