Web Use Report September 2004

This is the 20th of bimonthly reports on Web use statistics for townofcary.org. The first report was in July 2001.

I. Summary of Activity

Average daily page views increased by 25 percent over July 2004. They were up by 30 percent over September 2003.

Combined page views for the Job Opportunities page and Employment second tier in September 2004 were up 7 percent over July 2004 and 18 percent over September 2003. Addition of the firefighter application to the Web may partially explain the increase, according to the Human Resources staff.

Reasons for size of the overall increase over the previous report and the corresponding 2003 report are not easily discerned. Total views for the most visited pages during September 2003, July 2004 and September 2004 were approximately the same, with totals for the 20 most visited pages varying by less than 1 percent. Total views for the 20 most visited pages were 78,062 in September 2003, 78,051 in July 2004, and 77,493 in September 2004.

Throughout the Web site, 75 pages were viewed at least 500 times during September 2004 compared to 70 pages during July 2004 and 77 pages each during May and March 2004. Totals ranged from 57 to 67 from September 2003 to January 2004.
