Web Use Report November 2004


This is the 21st of bimonthly reports on Web use statistics for townofcary.org. The first report was in July 2001.

I. Summary of Activity

Average daily page views decreased by 8 percent over September 2004. They were up by up by 36 percent over November 2003.

As usual, the Job Opportunities page was the most visited on the site. What was unusual was the placement of a news release – the 10 Most Wanted list – in the second spot among most visited pages. The 10 Most Wanted release had 9,631 page views. The Cary Tennis Center challenge ladder page continued to receive high traffic, ranking seventh with 3,260 page views.

Combined page views for the Job Opportunities page and Employment second tier were 9 percent lower in November 2004 than in September 2004. The Human Resources Department reported compared to November 2004, advertised openings during September 2004 were of the type that tend to attract more interest. For example, firefighter recruitment extended several days into September.

Usage numbers indicate that citizens frequently used townofcary.org for utility account information and / or payment. The Utility Billing Online section and the Utility Payment Options page were the 12th and 13th most visited pages, combining for nearly 4,500 page views.

Throughout the Web site, 73 pages were viewed at least 500 times during November 2004 compared to 75 pages during September 2004 and 70 pages July 2004. Totals ranged from 57 to 77 between September 2003 and May 2004.
