Web Use Report May 2002
This is the sixth of bimonthly reports on Web use statistics for townofcary.org. The first report was in July 2001.
I. Summary of Activity
Web site activity during May 2002 was the heaviest of any month tracked thus far. Usage has increased for five consecutive reports and is up significantly this year over the latter part of 2001. During May, the average daily request for pages was 11 percent greater than in March.
The busiest week began May 6. The busiest days were Wednesday, Thursday, Tuesday and Monday. The busiest hours were 10 a.m. until noon. Sunday was the least busy day.
The four most requested pages were Job Openings, Search, Employment second tier and Recreation second tier - the same as in recent reports. The Amphitheatre at Regency Park section was the most-visited Web section for a specific program or service.

Feedback
The assistant to the manager compiled nearly 80 feedback messages during April and May 2002. These covered a wide range of Town operations. Web content issues included erroneous park directions (corrected), failure to add a "hot topic" (Traffic Calming) to the A-Z list (added) and a request for easier-to-find telephone numbers. (This is being evaluated although a Telephone Directory is in Site Index.)
Other comments included "home page a little too busy" and the point that one user's workplace did not allow visiting sites that used java, scripts or activeX controls. A reader said that "run-on" lines in newsletter e-mails made reading difficult. Another lamented that he could not fill out an application online rather than print it and fill it out. (This was a pdf file.)
