I. Summary of Activity Average daily page views were up by a third in January 2004 from November 2003 and increased by 19 percent over January 2003. Views of the two most visited pages – Job Openings and Employment second tier – each increased by 34 percent in January over November. The Human Resources Department reported having many more job postings during January than November. Postings included police officer recruitment. Two of the other most-viewed pages, Recreation second tier and the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources home page, increased by 83 percent and 64 percent, respectively, in January over November. November is a comparatively slow month for Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources. It falls at the end of a program cycle and there are no major events. In January, program registration was in full swing, basketball season was under way, registration for softball and baseball began. Events during January included the annual Dreamfest celebration. The snow may also have prompted citizens to go to Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Web pages for cancellation information, according to department staff. The late January snowfall generated a total of more than 4,100 visits to the Winter Weather page and the news release file prepared as a result of that snowfall. Throughout the Web site, 67 pages were viewed at least 500 times during January 2004 compared with 57 pages in November 2003 and 61 in September 2003. II.
