Overview
Cary schools are part of the Wake County Public School System. The county Board of Education operates the system, deciding where to build schools and where to assign students. The Wake County Board of Commissioners provides most of the money for construction and also supplements what the state pays teachers. Town of Cary Involvement in Schools Although schools are not a Town government responsibility here, Cary leaders have responded to the public interest in schools by making education a priority. The Town Council appropriated more than $6.6 million to benefit schools. Mayors' Task Force on School Assignment Cary, Garner and Apex took turns hosting monthly meetings of the Mayors' Task Force on School Assignment. The purpose was to articulate and prioritize the most critical assignment issues and work with the Wake County Board of Education to resolve them in a positive manner. |
