ADOPTING THE TOWN OF PRINCEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
AND COMMITING RESOURCES TO THEIR RECOVERY
FROM HURRICANE FLOYD

WHEREAS, Hurricane Floyd, which struck the eastern counties of North Carolina on September 16, 1999, has resulted in an ongoing disaster of historical proportions in the Town of Princeville, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, communities with no history of flooding have been totally devastated, and the Town of Princeville has been completely submerged under the flood waters with residents losing their homes, their businesses, and their personal possessions; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Cary has been blessed with an abundance of resources and has the means to help these unfortunate victims of Hurricane Floyd in this time of crisis.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Koka Booth, Mayor of Cary, North Carolina, and on behalf of the Cary Town Council and the citizens of Cary, do hereby resolve to adopt the Town of Princeville, North Carolina, and to assure the citizens of Princeville that our community will do whatever is needed to help them in their time of need.
