Bulk Water Program
The
Town of Cary bulk reclaimed water program is the only one of its kind
in the state. It makes non-potable water available at no charge to approved
customers, operating under state
permits. The minimum amount is 250 gallons.
The bulk reclaimed water project lessens how much treated wastewater
is discharged into creeks while reducing the amount of drinking water
that is used for irrigation, at construction sites, etc. The water has
been disinfected with ultra-violet light and liquid hypochlorite.
While clean and safe for many uses, the law requires precautions for
human contact.
Getting the Water Only customers that have completed the required training may obtain
permits for bulk reclaimed water from the North Cary or South Cary water
reclamation facilities. Training sessions are by appointment and
take 30-60 minutes.
