The Cary Police Department gathers information during crime prevention, intervention and investigation. The Records Team processes it using a computer software program called Chiefs. Records staff responsibilities include data entry of warrants and subpoenas, crime analysis report preparation, submission of statistics to the State Bureau of Investigation and for the federal Uniform Crime Report (UCR), and ensuring the department maintains its accredited status.
