Noise Abatement

Three noise walls meet the requirements of the state Department of Transportation's noise abatement policy and are included in preliminary construction plans.
First Proposed Noise Wall - West side (toward downtown) of the highway between U.S. 64 and Kildaire Farm Road, 3,900 feet long and 13 to 20 feet high. Concrete. Estimated cost $556,200.
Second Proposed Noise Wall - West side of the highway between Cary Parkway and Walnut Street, 6,937 feet long and 13 to 21 feet high. Concrete. Estimated cost $1,567,000.
Third Proposed Noise Wall - East side (away from downtown) of the highway between Cary Parkway and Walnut Street, 2,303 feet long and 16 to 18 feet high. Concrete. Estimated cost $528,600.
