Since the current Comprehensive Transportation Plan is under review, there are several different typical sections that will be looked at for the design of Reedy Creek Road.

• In keeping with the current Town of Cary Comprehensive Transportation Plan, the existing two-lane roadway may be widened to three lanes (with a center turn lane), curb and gutter, sidewalks, and wide outside lanes for bicycles (see typical section).
• The proposed Comprehensive Transportation Plan may call for a wider typical section of either five lanes (see typical section) or four lanes and a landscaped median (see typical section). Both options include curb and gutter, sidewalks, and bicycle lanes. The proposed Comprehensive Transportation Plan will be made available for review by the public by spring 2008.

Plans will require N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) review and approval because the State of North Carolina maintains this roadway. After the survey is complete, preliminary plans will be reviewed by the NCDOT and by citizens at a public information exchange. Plans at the 75 percent stage will show design changes and address any comments from the preliminary plan review.

A second public information exchange will held for the public to comment on the chosen design alternate. The final design will be completed after incorporating comments from the 75 percent review. The easement and right of way acquisition process will begin at the final plan stage, as well as acquiring the necessary permits for the project. Once the permits are finalized and the easement/right of way acquisition is complete, construction will be begin.
