Overview (Summer 2007)

Realignment of road and construction of new bridge over railroad tracks for safety and convenience of motorists on Jenks Carpenter Road and Carpenter Upchurch Road. Project improves access for Green Hope High School and Green Hope Elementary School.

  • Three lanes with wide outside lanes to accommodate bicycles
  • Curb, gutter and sidewalks on both sides
  • New bridge over railroad tracks and realignment of Jenks Carpenter Road
  • New three way intersection at Louis Stephens Drive and Carpenter Upchurch Road
(Plans require state Department of Transportation approval.)

Complete construction – Spring 2009

Right of Way & Easements

Right-of-way and easements needed for road and bridge construction, drainage (yard inlets, pipes and ditches), and side slopes leading to back of new sidewalk. Project includes rebuilding driveways.

Appraisals for each property based on amount of area altered and effect of construction on existing fences, walls, trees, etc. Town staff contacts affected property owners after appraisals completed.
