DAVIS DRIVE WIDENING PROJECT UPDATE

Town consultants are continuing to prepare the preliminary plans for the project. The updated schedule indicates that the preliminary plans should be submitted to NCDOT in November, with construction beginning in early winter 2001.

Based on the revised schedule, right of way plans should be completed in April of 2001. At that time, the process of obtaining easements and right of way will begin, and specific impacts can be discussed with individual property owners in greater detail. Staff has met with several property owners along the corridor to discuss the impacts to their property based on the preliminary plans.

Regarding the extension of Riggsbee Farm Rd, Timber Hitch Dr., and Playford Lane, staff will be requesting permission to accelerate funding for these extension at Town Council’s November 3^rd Operations Committee meeting (a public meeting held at noon in the front conference room of Town Hall). Information regarding these extensions will be available on the Town’s web page (http://www.townofcary.org/agendind.htm) when the agenda is posted.
