Overview (Spring 2008)
The Town of Cary plans several road improvements in connection with the Cary Park development to improve safety and lessen traffic congestion in western Wake County. The budget is $13.8 million.
Improvements
- Extending McCrimmon Parkway from Green Level to Durham Road to N.C. 55 (1.3 miles) Roadwork includes two-lane and four-lane segments with median within 100-foot right-of-way. (Completed)

Adding traffic signals at:
- Carpenter Fire Station Road & N.C. 55 (Completed)
- Carpenter Fire Station Road & Green Level to Durham Road
- Proposed McCrimmon Parkway & N.C. 55 (Completed)
- Widening Green Level to Durham Road (SR 1625) from proposed McCrimmon Parkway to 2,000 feet south of Carpenter Fire Station Road (1.1 miles). Road widened to four lanes with wide median to provide for future construction within 124-foot right-of-way. Construction includes two outside lanes northbound and southbound with curb and gutter, sidewalks and required tapers. Construction from Carpenter Fire Station Road southward has been completed. Construction of the section from Carpenter Fire Station Road northward scheduled for construction in spring 2009.
