Overview The Town of Cary is implementing an Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) System. This will include the replacement of all residential water meters and most commercial and industrial water meters. The new water meters will contain a transmitter that will remotely send meter readings to the Town’s Finance Department. This will improve the effectiveness of the Town’s meter reading and customer service operations while enhancing the overall quality of service to utility customers. Schedule The Town will issue a request for proposals for this project in late 2007. This project will be implemented in two phases. Construction of Phase 1 will take about 12 months to complete. Construction of Phase 2 will begin upon completion of Phase 1 and also has a 12-month duration. All construction is scheduled to be completed within two years.
