EXPLANATION FOR THIS REZONING:

The Town of Cary has identified several locations on the adopted the Land Use Plan map where the Plan's long-range land use recommendations conflict with the existing zoning classification. To date, these conflicts have not caused many problems; however, some have occurred and the potential exists for future confusion among citizens, land owners, developers, and elected officials. Town staff has identified approximately eighteen properties where this discrepancy presents a high potential for confusion or conflict.

The Town Council has directed staff to contact landowners in these eighteen locations to discuss the possible rezoning of their properties to comply with the recommendations of the Land Use Plan. As a result of these discussions, Town staff recommended that the Town initiate rezonings for these properties. On March 23, the Cary Town Council voted to proceed with the rezoning of those properties where the Town's Land Use Plan conflicts with existing zoning.
