If you are a builder who builds the same plan more than once:

We have implemented a new process in Cary that we think may interest you. We call it Multiple Permit Use plans, or MPUs for short. MPUs will allow you to get one set of plans approved, and build it on several lots without going back through plan review each time. Even if you have several options for a plan, we can review the plan with all options, and then you can just tell us which ones you are using with each permit application. This will allow your permits to travel through our permit process faster than ever, with a guaranteed approval (unless the Building Code changes!).

The process will work like this:

  • You decide if the plan you are submitting with a Permit Application is a good candidate for this program
  • Submit two copies of the plans, with a completed Application, a plot plan, and include an extra $100 in your check
  • Provide a Multiple Permit Use Plan Summary for the proposed project (see Forms)
  • We will review all options of the plan, stamp both sets with a special stamp, and return one set to you
  • You will make copies of the stamped set for the inspector’s use at the job sites
  • When you want to build the house again, complete a new MPU Summary, plot plan, and Permit Application – no additional fees, no plans required!
