The Inspections and Permits Department monitors building construction, enforces building codes and local ordinances, and provides administrative support for related activities within Cary and its extra-territorial jurisdiction.

The department processes permit applications, collects associated fees, reviews construction plans, schedules inspections, tracks permit and inspection data, handles street naming and addressing, inspects for code compliance, and enforces minimum housing regulations.
