Annexation Report

 

In 2006, the Town of Cary annexed in excess of 685 acres of land contained within 184 parcels and over 30 acres of street right-of-way through 29 citizen-initiated applications.    

 

Table 1 below provides annual annexations which have occurred over the last 26 years:

* In 1993, the Town of Cary implemented a computerized mapping system. Therefore, the data difference between 1992 and 1993 is due to the data correction from converting a manual to a computerized mapping system.

** In 2001, an intensive review of records was conducted, and it was determined that previous year's annexed acreage figures were inaccurate.  The result is that the percent increase figures from 2000 to 2001 are artificially high.  The Town's size indicated in the 2001 row has been verified as accurate.

Table 1 indicates that as of December 31, 2006, Cary contained over 33,969 acres and occupied 53.07 square-miles. 

Table 2 below provides information on the 29 citizen-initiated annexations which became effective in 2006.
