REQUEST: |
The applicant is requesting a variance to increase the allowable square footage of signage from 120 square feet to 300 square feet for the Waverly Office Park buildings. |

BACKGROUND: |
The Waverly Office Park buildings are
multi-tenant office condominiums. Each building contains 2 distinct main
entrances on a common wall face and specific recessed brick sign panels on
each end of the building. Each building entrance serves 4 condominium
units and the entrances are not connected in any way. The additional
square footage is requested in order to cluster the maximum of 4 tenant
signs on the each end of the building in the existing recessed panels.
Each sign panel is approximately 3’ x 19’ with a total useable area of
114 SF combined. The side of the building the sign is to be placed is 120
linear feet long allowing for 120 square foot of signage.
Section 13.2.4.(b)(21) of the Town of Cary Unified Development Ordinance, for non-residential wall signs the total area of all wall signs on a building shall not exceed one square foot in area for each linear foot of building frontage, and the fact that signs may be permitted on more than one wall of the building shall not increase this maximum. |
