PROJECT DESCRIPTION: |
|
This
project provides for the implementation of an automated system for monitoring
water quality and safety. The system
is comprised of electronic monitoring probes linked directly to the water
treatment plant’s computer system. The
probes provide 24 hour per day monitoring of water quality and safety seven
days per week. Abnormal information
transmitted via the probes triggers alarms notifying staff that water quality
measures have been exceeded. As water
treatment plant emergency dispatch personnel are on duty 24 hours per day,
seven days per week, any exceedance of set thresholds can immediately be
reviewed and addressed. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: Prior
to the implementation of this automated monitoring system, staff manually
gathered and tested water samples on a regular basis at various points
throughout town. Constant online
monitoring was recommended in the latest water quality report as this method is
an effective means of preventing widespread contamination of a water system. |

PROJECT LOCATION: |
