C-Tran - Fixed Route and Door-to-Door Services

C-Tran for Cary Citizens who are at least 60 or Disabled

C-Tran began in August 2001 as a transportation service for Cary citizens who are senior citizens (age 60 or older) or disabled. It transformed to a full-fledged transit system in July 2002 with the understanding that there be no reduction in service for senior citizens or disabled persons.

On Feb. 22, 2005, the Town Council approved a new C-Tran service design for general public riders, which includes three fixed routes with regularly scheduled stops. Creating fixed routes increases the availability of door-to-door services for seniors and disabled citizens. Effective December 16, 2005, general public riders are no longer eligible for door-to-door services.

On June 12, 2008, the Town Council approved a new three-tiered fare system for Door-to-Door service passengers. (Please see new fare structure below). Effective June 13, 2008, the age requirement of seniors who are applying for Door-to-Door service, has been increased to 60 years of age.

Existing door-to-door services for seniors and persons who are disabled will not change. These passengers may also use the fixed route service.
