The Planning and Zoning Board (P&Z) consists of 8 citizen volunteers from within the Town’s corporate limits and 2 from the ETJ.  The P&Z advises the council on land development issues such as land use plans, rezonings, and zoning regulations. The board conducted ten regular meetings and one work session in 2006.

The P&Z Board conducted public hearings, reviewed numerous development proposals, and made recommendations on the following items:

  • 8 Rezoning cases
  • 11 Planned Development Districts (PDD) (2 new and 9 amended)
  • 2 Activity Center Concept Plans (ACCP)
  • 2 Mixed Use Sketch Plans (formerly ACCP)
  • 8 Comprehensive Plan Amendments (CPA)

Additionally, Town planning staff conducted one work session to review a variety of planning and development topics for training purposes.  Items covered included:

  • Review and discussion of development-related processes; land use plans, comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings, mixed use sketch plans, and development plans
  • Policy Statement 150:  Rules of Procedure for Town of Cary Boards and Commissions
