Proposed Work Sessions for 2005
 

 

     February 1:  Community Appearance Manual (Architectural   
     Compatibility) with Town Council; consultant presentation of draft  

   February 21:   Parkland Dedication  

     March 21:  Rezonings, Development Plans, &
  
  Activity Center Concept Plans: Getting Back to Basics  

Review and discuss the three major steps in the development process.  Review the outcome
of 2005 Council/Staff retreat and Council direction regarding these processes, including potential
changes and process improvements to address planning, legal, and community issues.  

     May 16:   Rezonings & PDD’s  

In-depth discussion of the rezoning process as spelled out in the Land Development
Ordinance (LDO), including relevant topics for consideration, appropriate conditions and
requirements, procedures, and related matters.  

June 20:  LDO Amendments Round 5:  Conservation Residential Overlay District  

   Review and discuss the LDO Round 5 amendments to create a Conservation Residential
   Overlay Zoning District in the LDO, and to establish and map such a zoning district in the
   region of the Southwest Cary Area Plan.  This is one of the adopted implementation tasks
   from the Southwest Area Plan.
 

  July 18:  Carpenter Community Plan  

              The work session will be for the Carpenter Community Plan. The plan will go to TC public
              hearing on July 28 and to P&Z  for public hearing in August.  The Carpenter Plan is a town
              initiated master plan for almost 500 acres that encompasses the rural Historic Carpenter
              Crossroads as well as adjacent lands.  The Carpenter Area Plan provides policy
              
recommendations for future land uses, roads, parks, greenways, and historic preservation.
         

      August 15:    Alston Activity Center Concept Plan  

In-depth discussion of the Alston Activity Center Concept Plan and its associated Regional
Activity Center Overlay District and Land Use Plan amendment.  The Alston ACCP covers
over 900 acres encompassing the four quadrants of the future interchange of the I-540 Outer
Wake Expressway and NC Hwy 55.  This Town-initiated ACCP has been developed for the
Town by The Design Collective, Inc., and with the close involvement of area landowners and residents.
 

     November 21:  Site & Subdivision Plan Review  

In-depth discussion of the development plan process for site plans and subdivision plans
as spelled out in the Land Development Ordinance (LDO), including review procedures,
submittal requirements, review & approval criteria, and related matters.
