Communication Tower Downtown Streetscape– presentation
artist Elizabeth Conner with architect Ed Meserve
v
v
Concept is to
connect the Tower with the Streetscape theme for the roundabout which is about
historic wireless technology.
v
Three preliminary
concept drawings were shown to the Board.
Two of the drawings showed the tower with wide bands to represent a lighthouse. The third drawing would start off straight
and then twist with vertical elements
v
The Board liked
the more linear concept drawing. The Board felt that lighting should be
graceful maybe up lighting. They appreciated
the idea of the lighthouse approach, but felt the linear approach worked better
with the historic theme of the roundabout and its design elements. They also expressed the need for the twist to
not appear to be falling or leaning.
v
Why is the tower
being taken down? The water tower has
been replaced.
