 MINUTES

Thursday, October 3, 2002, 5 p.m.

Building A Front Conference Room

I.

Introduction of members:

Members present were Jo Rathgeber, Robert Keely, Jeffrey Gillette, Sandy Gottlieb, Anne Fitzpatrick, David Forvendel, and Geiselle Thompson. Members Rob Deal, Eugene Murray, and Ed Quick were absent.

Staff present: Susan Moran.

II.

Approval of Minutes:

The board unanimously recommended approval of the September minutes as written.

III.

Citizen Comments:

Member Sandy Gottlieb sent an email to staff member Dale Privette, but received no response. Member Jeff Gillette stated that public information was good on the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Master Plan meeting the previous evening. He suggested that the presentation should be on the Town's Web site to solicit more input.

IV.

Old/New Business:

  1. Web Overhaul. Staff will bring design to the ISAB in December or January. Board suggested to staff that links be added to the Web version of BUD and possibly adding the BUD icon to the splash page. The Board suggested inviting Technology Services Director Bill Stice to the November or December meeting to discuss online utility billing new features and updates.
  2. Readability. Susan Moran presented Fry readability analysis of BUD and the town’s Web site, which were rated at 10-11 grade and college sophomore, respectively. Moran asked the group to consider what the appropriate grade level should be for Cary’s written pieces. She said that her office would do similar tests of The Cary News and The News and Observer and pass that information along over the next month.

Member Comments:

1. Board members set the January meeting date for January 9, 2003.

The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.

Next ISAB Meeting:

The next ISAB meeting will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 5 p.m. in the Building A Front Conference Room.
