Old/New Business:

  1. At a previous meeting, the board asked staff to invite Council Member Harold Weinbrecht to the August 23, 2001 meeting. Mr. Weinbrecht stated that he felt the main goal of the Information Services Advisory Board should be to continue to get information to Cary citizens. He stated the all the Town's resources should be made available to disseminate information to citizens. Mr. Weinbrecht stated that he would like to see the Town's website host audio and video for all Council meetings and at least audio for boards and commissions meetings. When asked if quarterly reports would be beneficial to Council, Mr. Weinbrecht stated yes and that he felt that information (FYI) copies would be appropriate to send to the Operations Committee.

Board members asked Mr. Weinbrecht if Council would consider passing items to the ISAB related to communications in order to get the board's advice/input. Members stated that on issues like the Spanish Guide to Services and the Growth Management Education Plan, they felt that they could offer Council and staff valuable feedback and input. Board members asked Mr. Weinbrecht if he supported the idea of forming board subcommittees to discuss issues like the Spanish Guide to Services and the Growth Management Education Plan. Mr. Weinbrecht stated that he supported forming informal subcommittees since the board only meets twelve times a year.
  2. The board asked staff to invite Technology Service Director Bill Stice to the September 27, 2001 meeting. The board will ask Mr. Stice to address the following three issues: 1) Online utility billing, 2) Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources online registration, and 3) Town's search engine.
