TO: Information Services Advisory Board

FROM: Susan Moran, Public Information Officer

DATE: June 18, 2002

SUBJECT: Informal Report

Dear ISAB:

Our rescheduled May meeting, which should have occurred on Jun 6, 2002, was cancelled due to lack of a quorum. While no official business could be conducted, I did take the opportunity to update those present with the following information for consideration at your next meeting.

Equipment: Satellites have been installed and for the most part are functional. Some work still needs to be completed, specifically on the motor. We have given ourselves a month to complete the work and programming, setting a deadline for July 1, 2002. As you know, when the Town took over cable channel 11 from Time Warner Cable in 2000, Time Warner Cable was no longer willing to send through-satellite programming on channel 11 (i.e. NASA). We plan to add to our programming NASA and the Triangle Radio Reading Service with the installation of a new antenna, all of which will be coming on line July 1, 2002. If you have any programming suggestions that meet our criteria (produced by or for local, state, or federal government), please feel free to forward them to me at your convenience.

Policy: For nearly a year, staff has been revising the Town's Government Access policy as it relates to candidate forums. Please review the attached document for discussion at your next meeting, which is scheduled for June 27, 2002.
