Members present were David Forvendel, Julie Thomas, Sandy Gottlieb, Bob Hickey, Jeffrey Gillette, Robert Keely, Geiselle Thompson, Cliff Barnes, Jeff Roberts, and Jo Rathgeber.

Staff present were Susan Moran and Roger May.

Approval of Minutes:

Wake County District Court Judge Ann Marie Calabria was present. Judge Calabria was present to discuss with board members the growing number of Hispanics and Latinos living in Wake County. From her perspective as judge, she shared with the Board the need to teach English to the large population of non-English speaking Hispanics and Latinos in Wake County. Though she did not feel that the Town should cease its publication of Spanish-language information, she did express that it should be kept to a minimum. Additionally, she noted that many were not literate and that perhaps audio would be most helpful.

The Board was unable to address written communications in May, and therefore will address it in June. The Board will address GTV in July. For these issues, ISAB will discuss (1) what’s going well, (2) what needs improving, (3) what could be done that’s not being done—new innovations.
