Partner Representative

(You may attach additional documentation to support your position.)

I do not have a specific affiliation.  I claim to apply as a technical expert as I feel confident my knowledge, experience, and qualifications support my serving the following: water quality, conservation and natural resource management, government regulations etc., transit-oriented development, creative and collaborative problem solving, and action planning for sustainable results.  In my current professional position I am providing consulting services meeting a wide variety of sustainable design conditions.  These include but are not limited to involvement with developing green travel plans for large corporations, designing environmental education facilities, supporting design efforts for enhancements to local greenway networks (promotion of development of a green infrastructure), and providing master planned community design to meet high standards of localized better site design criteria.  Additionally, I serve on a Taskforce for my parent company, WSP Group, and am working on a research and implementation initiative to identify and commit a group of US companies to commence sustainable business practices as a means to support continued project opportunities in sustainable design through a holistic approach to the service offering as well as the product.  This effort will culminate in actions taken with a global board of directors.  I have included the Town of Cary in the presentation to highlight the current initiative to move towards a paperless (digital) submission program for site plan review.  The parent company has been involved in such projects as Masdar, the world’s first carbon free city being constructed in the Dubai region.  The work I am doing as part of this taskforce is outside my billable and salaried time; a true testament to my level of interest and commitment to implementing solutions in sustainability.  I believe in achieving responsible solutions, and not being too quick to join the bandwagon and invest in “flavor of the week” ideas that in some cases are proving to have a negative impact versus the expected result.  In this sense I can provide a valuable service to this Board as a “devil’s advocate’ of sorts, encouraging all involved to maintain a collected approach in moving forward with recommendations.  Finally, my standing as both a Professional Engineer and a Certified Floodplain Manager are a reflection of my high level of ethics and integrity in how I impact the built and natural environment.  Most importantly, they serve as a symbol of my commitment to work to protect the safety and health of the public.

List any board or commission on which you are presently serving, or have served on in the past, either in the Town of Cary or elsewhere, noting any relevancy to the Environmental Advisory Board.
