The Town of Cary is currently accepting applications from Cary citizen interested in volunteering to serve on a new Environmental Advisory Board. Applications are being accepted from April 21 through May 23, 2008. Appointments will be made in June  2008.   Members will be selected from within Cary's corporate limits.  To receive an application or ask questions, contact the Town Clerk's office via e-mail at karen.gray@townofcary.org or call (919) 319-4508.

Town of Cary has nine Boards and Commissions. Each is unique in its size, meeting schedule, and specific function; however, the overall mission is the same: To make Cary a place in which we can be proud to live, work and play.

Citizens who serve on these boards and commissions perform a community service using their skills, interests and initiatives to make the difference. These volunteers believe that Cary should indeed become "My Cary" for each of us.

Whether you are interested in recreational activities, cultural events, technology issues or land use practices, the Town of Cary has opportunities for you to volunteer to share your time and talents.

Applications are accepted each year from September 1 through December 1 for upcoming vacancies for the following year.  Current Town of Cary employees are not eligible to volunteer.

All citizens appointed to any board or commission are required to read and sign the Ethics and Conflicts of Interest Guidelines for Town Advisory Boards and Commissions.  Appointments are for three-year terms, except where unexpired terms are being filled. Please e-mail karen.gray@townofcary.org or call (919) 319-4508 with questions

In addition to boards and commissions, the Town at times forms special committees and  and task forces to work for a finite time on specific, current  issues.  Appointments to these special groups are made as needed and terms of service vary.  For more information visit the Town's Web site at www.townofcary.org.
