    The meeting was called to order by Ms. Dorrel at 7:30 PM.
  1. Action on Minutes from October 11, 1999 Meeting.

    ACTION: A motion was made by Ms.Wayman and seconded by Mr. Cassell to approve the minutes as submitted. The Board voted unanimously (9-0) in favor of the motion.
  1. Swearing In

  2. APPLICATION #: 99-15-V

    STAFF CONTACT: Matt Griffin

    SUBJECT PROPERTY: 2430 Walnut St.

    APPLICANT(S): North American Signs

    REQUEST: The applicant, North American Signs, representing Cary Vest, LLC, property owner is requesting a variance to allow an increase in the allowed sign area of 156 square feet to 395.67 square feet, and from the 2 allowed signs to a total of 3 signs. The applicant is also requesting a logo be placed on top of the sign text, as opposed to the left or right of the sign text as required.

    ACTION: A motion was made by Ms. Wayman that application #99-15-V has successfully met the requirements of Section 6.1.5 of the Cary Zoning Ordinance and is hereby granted, subject to the following conditions and findings: (1) Variance shall run with the business, (2) the wall sign on east facing wall will not be allowed, (3) the wall sign north facing will be allowed without the logo and the letters will be reduced to comply with the 156 square feet allowed by the Town of Cary; and (4) subsequent sign measuring 25.45 square feet will be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Krautler and the motion passed on a vote of 8-1 with Mr. Frick casting the dissenting vote.

    SUBJECT PROPERTY: 204 Ketrick Court

    APPLICANT(S): M.I. Haider

    REQUEST: The applicant M.I. Haider, is requesting a variance to encroach into the 10-foot side setback by 2 feet.

    ACTION: Ms. Jordan made a motion that application #99-16-V has successfully met the requirements of Section 6.1.5 of the Cary Zoning Ordinance and is hereby granted, subject to the following conditions and findings: (1) Variance shall be transferable and run with the structure. The motion was seconded by Ms. Wayman and the Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.


    APPLICATION #: 99-17-A

    STAFF CONTACT: Karen Pendleton

    SUBJECT PROPERTY: 443 West Park Street

    APPLICANT(S): Donald Traylor

    REQUEST: The applicant, Donald Traylor, is appealing staff’s determination, that the home occupation violates section 13.1.2. Home Occupations of the Town of Cary Unified Development Ordinance.

    ACTION: At the request of the applicant, a motion was made by Ms. Wayman and seconded by Ms. Harris to continue this request to the January 2000 meeting of the Zoning Board of Adjustment. The Board voted unanimously (9-0) in favor of the motion.

  1. Ms. Wayman congratulated Ms. Dorrel on her election to Town Council and thanked her on behalf of the Board for her service to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
