AGENDA ITEMS

  1. Call to Order

    The meeting was called to order by Ms. Dorrel at 7:30 PM. Andre Best was recognized as the new alternate member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, replacing Mr. Frick who has moved up as a permanent member of the Board. Mr. Best was sworn in and the oath was administered by Ms. Dorrel, Chairperson.
  1. Action on Minutes from March 8, 1999 Meeting

    ACTION: A motion was made by Ms. Wayman and seconded by Ms. Colvin to approve the minutes as submitted. The Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.
  1. Swearing In

    The following individuals were sworn in to give testimony: Joseph Jeffries, Mike Christenbury, and Hal Bowen.

4. Case Hearings

APPLICATION #: 99-06-A

STAFF CONTACT: Joseph D. Jeffries

SUBJECT PROPERTY: 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Rd.

APPLICANT(S): Hal Bowen

REQUEST: The applicant, Hal Bowen, representing Wake County Board of Education, is appealing Staff’s decision to deny a sign permit (99-274) based on section 13.2.8 of the Town of Cary Unified Development Ordinance.

ACTION: A motion was made by Ms. Wayman to reverse the administrative officer's decision and to approve the sign permit (99-274) for Green Hope High School. Ms. Colvin seconded the motion and the Board voted 9-1 in favor. Mr. Frick cast the opposing vote.

  1. New Business

    Mr. Christenbury introduced the two new Zoning Code Enforcement Officers, Matt Griffin and Karen Pendleton, who recently joined the Planning and Zoning Division staff.
  1. Old Business

    Ms. Wayman inquired as to the status of the As Built Foundation Surveys and Mr. Christenbury reported that the staff, under direction from the Planning and Development Committee, developed a code amendment to require as built foundation surveys on residential lots. The code amendment was approved by the Planning and Zoning Board at their meeting of April 19, 1999 and forwarded to the Town Council meeting of May 13, 1999.

    There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
